As I walked about the yard relishing the rapid melting remnants of our late April snow and ice storm, I noticed the beautiful edges of the melting snow. They reminded me of something, but what? When I came back in and headed to my studio it was as clear as sunny day. The translucent edges of my agates showed that same delicate, lacey effect as the fading perimeter of snow crystals against the ground.

Agate connects to the earth with a beautiful harmonizing energy so it isn’t surprising that random events in nature would remind us of this beautiful, subtle stone. When you hold an Agate you can almost see a strong steady river flowing – soothing, calming and almost mesmerizing.

On a metaphysical level, Agate is known for its ability to balance and stabilize your life, moving away negativity. It is also believed to improve mental capabilities, strengthening concentration, providing clarity and raising your analytic skills. When you feel the need to get grounded, Agate is a great go to stone.

And since it seems to have called to me, I think I will have to create a piece or two from my Agate collection and just enjoy the balancing energy of its vibrations.
